Stony Brook Bariatric and Metabolic Weight Loss Center

Part of Stony Brook Medicine’s Department of Surgery, the Bariatric and Metabolic Weight Loss Center offers both surgical and non-surgical weight loss care, including gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, adjustable gastric banding, medical management, and behavior modification support.
The center’s board-certified surgeons have performed more than 4,000 surgeries, including over 2,000 bariatric procedures, and the program holds the top-level Comprehensive Center with Adolescent Qualifications accreditation from the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program.
Care includes nutrition counseling and ongoing support from initial consultation through post-procedure recovery, and the center has been voted Best Bariatric Practice on Long Island for multiple years running.
